Authority Sites
Web sites (or pages) that search engines assess to be of strong
importance on a certain subject are called authority sites. They’re
often sites/pages that have high PageRank and a high link popularity
and gain great rankings for a particular set of keywords. In theory,
if the site or page has lots of quality content it will attract lots
of inbound links and this will make that site an authority site.
Take for example Microsoft: Their site is full of content related
to computers and more specifically for Microsoft products. Sites
that sell Microsoft products or have a relation to Microsoft products
link to various pages within the Microsoft site which then makes
the Microsoft site an authority on Windows, Excel and numerous other
keyword terms. |
